Find Out How FX Our Fire Extinguishers Squares Up To Even The Most Dangerous Fires.
When it comes to fire safety, there is no such thing as cutting corners.
That’s why Moreton Fire Service Training College set up a scenario that would test the limits of FX fluid by putting it up against one of the worst situations you can think of.
An out-of-control, 8-metre-wide, 250-litre diesel fire that had been allowed to burn for 6 minutes and reach a temperature of around 800 °C.
Toxic fumes. Tonnes of smoke. And a superheated fuel source that’s looking for any excuse to re-ignite.
For context, this is a scenario that usually requires two nine-litre foam fire extinguishers and a foam blanket to protect the fire crew.
Basically, you need to keep spraying foam on the fire, all while adding a new layer over the areas where it’s been extinguished to prevent the fuel from re-igniting.
A process that takes a trained firefighter 45 seconds.
However, with FX fluid, it took the same firefighter armed with a single nine-litre extinguisher was able to fully extinguish the fire in 14 seconds, and still had six litres of FX fluid left in the tank.
In short, FX fluid enabled the firefighter to put out a 250-litre diesel fire 3x faster, using 5x less fluid, than traditional foam extinguishers.
But, as the saying goes, seeing is believing.
Which is why you can see it for yourself by watching the 60-second video below.
Anyone whose dealt with a car fire will tell you exactly how much of a nightmare they are to extinguish.
Multiple fuel sources, awkward angles, and a lack of visibility mean that new fires can start almost as quickly as you can put them out.
That's why you used to need heavy machinery pumping out hundreds of litres of water to put them out for good and make the area safe.
Not anymore.
FX fluid comes in three packages, a 500ml aerosol, a 6-litre extinguisher, and a 9-litre extinguisher each of which hits well above its weight.
For example, the FX500 works at any angle, instantly extinguishes the fire, and cools the fuel source, meaning you can get to all those hard-to-reach places and end the threat before the fire can start to spread.
But that's a best-case scenario,
The question we addressed with the help of Moreton Fire Service Training College was this:
"What happens when the fire takes route?"
That's why we filled a car with flammable materials, set it on fire, and waited a few minutes for it to spread.
Then, sent in a firefighter armed with a single 9-litre FX fire extinguisher to try and put it out.
Here's what we found.
This means that a single 9-litre FX fire extinguisher will put out an established car fire using 100 times less fluid than traditional methods.
Reducing the risk to you, your wallet, and the environment.
